Six Months

Dear Lila,

Now that you are a big girl and eating solid foods could you please learn how to potty train yourself? For the love of God, your poop STINKS! You actually thought it was hilarious and erupted into a fit of giggles when I was dry heaving as I was changing your diaper. OK, enough about your poop.

You love playing independently while on your tummy. You like to amuse yourself by playing with your blocks, Mallorie the Monkey, your i-Pod (it's not really an i-Pod just a silly toy that plays music) and just about anything else you can get your hands and mouth on. The last few days you have been very interested in feeling and touching our faces. You seem to be much more aware of dog-dog Sully. When he lays down next to you, you like to touch his fur. He likes you too -- especially when he gets to clean up your spit-up.

You love inch-worming and slithering your way around. It's so cute! I can't wait to see what type of crawl you will do next -- the army crawl, bear crawl, crab crawl or leap frog? We'll have to wait and see!

My favorite thing is watching you put your feet in your mouth! It's the cutest thing ever. My least favorite thing is your constant flipping over in the middle of the night. I honestly wake up about twelve times a night to make sure that you are breathing (you like to mash your face into the mattress).

Last week was full of doctor visits. We met with the neurologist to see how everything was progressing. So far, so great! The medications are working and you haven't had any seizure activity since July 12. We will meet with the neurologist again in January. We also met with the pediatrician for your six-month check-up. You are doing everything you should be doing. You weighed in at 16 lbs 10 oz (65th percentile) and you are 27 inches tall (90th percentile). What a big girl you are!

Now about that potty training thing...

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

That is wonderful news! Didn't I tell you they have a drug for everything?!

You are so brave and I'm tremendously proud of you.

Tracy, Brett...ahhh, the flipping in the crib thing. Right there with you on that one. Eva has been flipping for about a month now and we were totally freaked and constantly checking cause she was always on her tummy. The paranoia will subside in about a month!

Glad to hear everything is progressing so well. Especially glad to hear the meds are working. Lila is adorable, keep up the good work!

P.S. Buy a hazmat suit, the poop thing gets worse when they're completely on solids from what I've been told!

So glad to hear everything is going well with Lila...can't believe it has already been 6 months!

I did the same thing...waking up all the time to see if the little one was OK. As soon as he was able to turn over, it was all sleeping on the stomach, all the time. We finally got a BebeSounds Angelcare monitor which checks the breathing and alarms if anything goes wrong...it is really overkill, but gave me peace of mind!

Before you know it you'll be baking a cake for one year :)
